Stores and Workshop Operative – Internal Stock

Due to continued growth and expansion, DLM are looking to recruit a Stores and Workshop Operative to fulfil a new role of overseeing and maintaining stock, goods in and goods out.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this new role will work alongside the existing systems in place, striving for a common goal of utilising ERP to create a more efficient & cost-effective stock management system for the busy manufacturing facility and Marine Sales division.

Working with our Operations and Marine Sales Manager, you will contribute towards improving and implementing our Stores and Goods in, Goods out practices and procedures. You will be responsible for overseeing every aspect of ‘Internal Stock’, from goods-in & stock management to the issuing of parts & consumables to the Manufacturing, Calibration and Marine Sales departments throughout the working shift.

This role would suit a current warehouse operative or stores person looking to make a step up in their career & to leave their mark, whilst helping to make a real difference to the company’s long-term plans.


Given that this is a new role, the list of exact duties is subject to change, but typical duties would include:


  • Re-organisation of the existing stores area.
  • Identification of current parts & creation of physical stock locations.
  • Data entry into M1 (ERP system) of both quantities and locations alongside the Operations and Marine Sales Manager.


  • Goods in – Checking off deliveries and booking them into location in M1.
  • Monitoring stock levels & liaising with the Purchasing department to ensure the timely re-ordering of stock.
  • Picking – Issuing of parts and consumables to the relevant departments.
  • Keeping the stores and racking neat, tidy and organised.
  • Quarterly stock take
  • Packing of goods for dispatch
  • Any other reasonable duties.
