DLM successfully undergo a range test over 3.13km body of water

January 17, 2017

DLM Design carry out a range test on a new custom design transmitter and receiver display, designed specifically to reach a clients exact requirements of 3km range across a body of water.

A prominent cable laying company recently contacted DLM Design to come up with a solution for a cable pulling operation that measures load on a sheave block on the beach, then wirelessly communicating to a cable laying vessel up to 3km offshore in order to monitor the load on the sheave at the vessels deck.

DLM Design took on the challenge and headed to Southampton waters last week to test the equipment. With the transmitter box at Hamble Spit and receiver at Calshot, the test was carried out on a misty January morning across a distance measuring 3.13kM. The test was performed several times and we are pleased to report that it successfully exceeded the distance required.
